I will be sharing a piece of work of my
Student Volunteer army is used to set up to help those in need who were most affected by the Christchurch earthquake in September 2010. Thousands of volunteers were were put into groups and sent off to the worst affected areas in Christchurch to help with the clean up and to help the community.
Unfortunately there was another earthquake which happened on 22nd February 2011. This was far worse and much more help from the T was needed . 13,000 students volunteered in just one week. There were also 185 lives lost in this tragic event.
University student Sam Johnson was the founder and created a Facebook page to encourage friends to join him with the cleanup, for example moving liquefaction around Christchurch, bringing the wider communities together to help out one another and to learn new skills. Overall making a positive impact in our community.
The SVA has became such a success that people from all over New Zealand of all ages have helped. We can see this with the statistics (numbers) it is also a way for kiwis to continue to keep the tradition of generosity and to use it in a practical way next time something like this happens especially in our own city.
The SVA wish to continue to create goals and continue inspiring students to volunteer and help others.
